Circulating water is reused repeatedly in the system. As temperature changes and water evaporates, impurities in the water become concentrated. If left untreated, three major problems will arise:
**Scaling reduces heat dissipation**: Calcium and magnesium ions in the water form scale, which has a thermal conductivity only a few tenths that of steel. **A 0.5 mm thick layer of scale can reduce heat exchange efficiency by 20% to 30%**. Equipment must work harder to achieve cooling, driving up electricity costs.
**Corrosion shortens service life**: Oxygen and ions in the water corrode metal pipes, causing pitting or even perforation. **An untreated system may see its lifespan drop from over a decade to just 3 to 5 years**, increasing the risk of leaks.
**Microbial blockages in pipes**: With sufficient oxygen and suitable temperatures in circulating water, bacteria and algae thrive, forming slime. **This not only clogs pipes and reduces cooling effectiveness but also accelerates under-deposit corrosion**, turning the water foul-smelling and dark.
